Dear friends,

MindBenders is the demented brain child of Iron Lotus (aka Critical Mass) of South Africa & Eyetek of Portugal (who is known for his recent work with manipulators, Sinful Reactions). Both coming from a serious heavy metal background and it shows in this new twisted morphing of nighttime fullon psytrance They aim to add a fresh outlook on the twilight psy, and utilizing the combative SA force of Iron Lotus with the high energy Portuguese power of Eyetek, this is a collaboration guaranteed to turn necks! Lets go ahead and have a word with these two mad men!

[ishikawa] Hey guys! Thanks for joining us today. Could you start by telling us more about yourselves and how you came to be involved with the psytrance scene?

[MINDBENDERS] – Hi. Its a pleasure to be here.

[EYETEK] – Well i began going to psytrance partys with some friends later in 2002. My first party was Parasense, GMS and Wizzy Noise, so it wasn´t difficult to get the will to go to the next one. And i began getting each time more excited with the psy scene.

[IRON LOTUS] – My name is Dani Honor and born and raised in cape town south africa-I have been involved in music since I was young kid and started to play guitar and in my early teens got into metal music and statred lots of bands. In early 2000;s a friend took me too my first outdoor psychedelic trance party and it was so powerful and undergound! I was instantly hooked and statred a journey on how to dj and write my own tunes.

[ishikawa] What is the story behind your chosen name ‘MindBenders’?

[MINDBENDERS] – We wanted a name that would transmit what we wanted to do. And so we came out with MindBenders and we both thought that it was perfect! We want to bend your minds, and make your body rock with it

[ishikawa] What is your studio setup like? Could you describe the creative process behind how you make your music, especially given that the both of you are based out of different countries?

[MINDBENDERS] – Well most important, is Danni who starts the tracks! I do the last part always, and we work just great this way! When Danni sends the tracks i always try to follow the original track rythm and also insert my sounds and ideas in there. We understand each other just great what makes all the work very easy.

[ishikawa] Your first EP – “An Eye In Your Filthy Mind” – is due for a release soon on the infamous – MMD records. Could you tell us more about it?

[MINDBENDERS] – Well, it came out of nowhere. Danni asked me to do a vs track for his EP, and that track was Countdown, and after that one we said to each other “we should do a project together. And “An Eye In Your Filhty Mind” is just the first release that weve made. We tried to incorporate in it everything that we like, from our metal infuencies, combined with our different styles of music. With “Ozzy´s Legacy” we kinda pay our tribute to metal and to Ozzy himself, who his a very important and known name in the metal scene. “Countdown”, was the first, what makes it very special because it marks the beggining of our project. And with the rmx of “Architect of Impact” we just wanted to perfect the original and put a more emotional side on this one.
And we think that the final product is very good, what makes us very eager to do more and more stuff together. So MindBenders is definitally a project to stay

[ishikawa] Asides from the MindBenders project, you both have your respective solo projects, Dani with Iron Lotus and Critical Mass and Claudio with Eyetek. How does the MindBenders sound differ from your solo projects?

[MINDBENDERS] – Well we try to combine our two styles. But we put in MindBenders all those influencies we have, and all the things that we have in common. MindBenders kinda works like a rage releaser

[ishikawa] Both of you are very active in collaborating with other artists – the collective list includes Tantrumm, Sinful Reactions and Stereopanic to name a few. Are there any other artists you guys would like to work with?

[MINDBENDERS] – Yeah. For sure. There´s some tracks being made already. We have a vs to do with Dirty Motion to a Disasterpiece Compilation being choosen by us. Also we have some other very nice colabs in our agenda. So good times ahead.

[ishikawa] Over the years of touring about, where have you played? What is your favorite party destination?

[EYETEK] – Well i´ve only played in Portugal, ahahah But i would love to play in South Africa, Japan, or Israel

[IRON LOTUS] – I’ve played many gigs in south africa over the years and had the oppertunity to play twice in portugual- Iv had many great shows at events in ct like alien safari, mmd remanufacture, beartrap, disaterpeace- haloween outdoor, jungala festival fluterwagen and many more!My best experience has been at karma outdoor in portugual when had opetunity to slam mindbders set with claudio for an hour and half! was pure dance floor mayhem and everyone was going crazy!

[ishikawa] What has been your craziest party experience?

[EYETEK] – Well that´s a hard one there have been so many over the years…but for me it was playing with Danni the first time no doubt

[IRON LOTUS] – haha so many dont know where to begin! Back in day when was younger I was crazy party person and was always in frontof the speakers loosing my mind too the psy chaos. These days you will usually catch me at the back bar, listening to the beats, chatting and sipping on few cold beers and tequillas

[ishikawa] Dani and Claudio, thanks so much for your time! Before we end do you have any last shout outs?

[MindBenders] – Our pleasure And yeah, keep bending your filthy mind
