Dear friends,

DemoSys ( Andre Cachaao / Phonix Records / Terror Lab Industries / Portugal )  joins us today for an interview with Ishikawa ( Angad Kumar Kapoor )  where he talks about his music , his new release “INDECISIONS ( Phonix Records )” . Let us hear from Andre.

[ishikawa] Hey Andre! Thanks for joining us today. Please tell us more about yourself and how you got involved with producing psytrance?

Hey man. Well, my name is André Cachaço, I´m 25 years old and I was born and raised in the outskirts of Lisbon. I’ve been producing psytrance since 2006.
My passion for music goes back to when I was a kid. My father has a band, so I have been in direct contact with music since a very young age. Psy, however, brought me a different perspective of music in general.
I attended Djing classes and started playing right after completing my course thanks to Blissful, my promoter. In 2009 I did a workshop in music production, which I consider the major lift for my development as a musician

[ishikawa] Why the name ‘Demosys’?

In the beginning, my artistic name was supposed to be Demo System, don’t ask me why, I just liked the way it sounded.
In  the meantime, a friend of mine suggested that I shortened it to Demosys. I agreed because it sounded a lot better. I never really gave much importance to the name, I’d rather focus on the music I’m making and message I’m trying to send to the audience.

[ishikawa] Could you tell us about your studio setup? Whats the creative process that’s goes into making one of your tunes?

Well, my setup is the most basic possible. I have my sound card, my monitor and my Midi Keyboard. Nothing special at all. I think that as long as you have an idea in your head, and the ability to convert that idea into a Cubase file, that is the most important thing.

[ishikawa] Your sound can be described as melodic, high-tech, energetic, and simply putting it – a blast! Where do you draw your inspiration from?

My mind. how I am feeling at the time, the environment that surrounds me and of course, music itself, I listen to lots and lots of music, to many different genres. Some of my ideas come from Dubstep,Metal, Electro, and even from movies, I get a lot of ideas with movies. In the world of Trance music, artists such as Shift, Pitch Heackers, Menog, Space Tribe, Azax Sydrom ( the old Azax Syndrom) are my main influences; just like Albums such as Alternator, , The Tribe remixes, Electro Convulsive Therapy, Evolution are also relics for my inspiration.

[ishikawa] You are amongst a growing number of new projects coming from Portugal, along side A-Mush, Leppy, and Konnektor. What is going on in Portugal thats giving rise to such awesome music?

There is a lot of talent here. Portugal has a very close relationship with the culture. Presently, we’re going through a decrease in Trance culture, there is definitely a lot of talent around here. Even though we are increasingly appreciated outside the borders, we are not highly valued within our own country. Nevertheless, I think we have the best producers in the scene.

[ishikawa] Your debut EP – “Indecisions” is scheduled for release on Phonix Records. Please tell us more about it. Any other releases in the pipeline?

My EP was produced during a complicated stage of my music career. I had no inspiration, the parties I was playing at were not motivating me, the promoters, the Trance scene in general; all the ideology of the scene seemed to have lost itself over the years and I just couldn’t identify myself with it anymore.
So I stopped for a few months and stayed away from trance parties for a while. I went to many different gigs, Minimal and Hip-Hop parties. You know, just to clear one’s head. But I always had the support of my family and friends and all the people that have been here for me and my Project right from the start, which helped me regain the motivation I needed to produce.

[ishikawa] Asides from your solo Demosys project, you are also part of Undelete. Could you tell us more about this project?

Undelete is my new Project between me and my partner Krypto. The concept was born in the beginning of this year (2012). It is quite different from what I do as DemoSys, Krypto has different ideas from mine and it’s good working with someone who has a different perspective. It allows us to create new styles and sounds . You can expect news regarding this project soon.

[ishikawa] You are signed up with both Phonix Records and more recently the infamous Terror Lab Industries. What has it been like to work them?

Well, it is a pleasure for me to be signed to such an amazing label. Terror Lab is one of the best labels on the scene nowadays. It’s a promoter that has launched the career of many artists and released compilations with many great musicians. Phonix Records was the label who took me in from the start and will edit my début EP Indecisions. I want to thank Paulo ( Phonix records manager) for all his trust in me and my work. So ,yeah, I’m very happy to work with them.

[ishikawa] What is your craziest party story?

I think it was Blissfull Festival 2009. There were about 2000 people, and the crowd were really amazing, with lots of energy and good vibes. It was definitely the best party I’ve played at..

[ishikawa] Andre, thanks for your time. Before we end the interview, any last shout outs?

Just want to say thank you mate for the interview. And to the readers, be happy and if you like my music, listen to my Ep Indecisions. It’ll be out soon. One love

Thanks Andre.
